1.1) Rugged Sahyadri, the Adventure race (henceforth referred to as “the Race”) will be governed by the Race Committee. This committee has complete discretion in formulating and applying all the rules and penalties. These rules may be modified or altered at the discretion of the Race Committee at any time.
1.2) The official languages of the race is English and all competitors are responsible for reading and understanding these rules, race signs, directions and any oral instructions given before and during the race.
1.3) The course will include mandatory checkpoints and sections which may be modified at any time before and during the race.
1.4) The Race Committee reserves the right to impose time penalties or to disqualify teams/ participant , for conduct in violation of these rules and contrary to the best interest of the Race. The decision of the Race Committee is final and cannot be appealed to except for the protest clause as mentioned in the ARTICLE 06 ( Protest )
1.5) Time cut off points may be designated at various places along the course. Teams arriving after the designated time at any cut-off point may be disqualified at the discretion of Race officials.
1.6) Failure of any team /participant , to immediately and respectfully comply with a direction or decision of a Race official will result in the disqualification .
1.7) All decisions by the Race Director regarding the results and the prizes will be final and binding on all the race participants.
1.8) It is MANDATORY for all the participants to attend the Pre-Race briefing conducted by the Race Committee during which the Race Kit will also be issued.
2.1) Each team will consist of minimum and maximum two members participating in the Race. All Team members must be of minimum 16 years of age ( except in the Junior Category ). Solo category is open for all.
2.2) Each team will have a team leader who should be a member of the participating team. The team leader will be fully responsible for the team as well as for all communications with the race officials. The organizers will communicate only with the team leader. All correspondence from the organizers will be addressed to the team leader. Only the team leader is allowed to interact with organizers during all briefings and seminars convened by the organizers.
2.3) The Teams are classified into numerous categories based on the composition of team members.
2.4) Participants Should be Physically FIT With No Personal History of any Disease Incapaciting him to undergo the physically challenging RUGGED SAHYADRI RACE . Participants should have a life insurance.
2.5) Participant should have all the medicines ( along with a first aid kit ) as prescribed by the authorized doctor and should not carry any medicines other than those mentioned in the doctor’s list.
2.6) All participants should follow all traffic and civic rules along the course and duration of the race.
2.7) Rugged Sahyadri is a Non-Supported Adventure Race. No support or back-up is allowed for participants. Vehicles even remotely associated with the participants of any category (company / government / defense organizations or private vehicles) if seen by the Marshals / Race Officials along the race route, will lead to immediate disqualification .
2.8) Once any team/participant is disqualified, it will no longer be considered as a part of the race.
2.9) The entry fee will not be refunded or transferred under any circumstances.
2.10) Use of any special equipment or race tactic, the legality of which is unclear under these rules, must be disclosed in full to the Race Director prior to the Race to be approved. In the event that the equipment or tactic is approved, the Race Director will keep the inquiry confidential. In the event that aparticipant fails to pre-disclose and receive pre-approval, this fact will weigh against them in the determination of any protests filed on account of such equipmentor tactic used.
3.1) Every Team/participant is required to carry their own food and water required during the entire Race.
3.2) BIB and Time card provided by organizer need to be handled throughout the race.
3.3) The race will run from Time Control to Time Control. The Time Control (TC) will be the location where eacparticipant will report after every segment of the race and get their respective timings recorded for that segment.
3.4) Passage Control (PC) will be the location in between any segment where the Time Cards will be stamped but no time will be recorded.
3.5) Both the team members should arrive at every Control (TC & PC) together. Once they arrive, the team should stand inside the time box (Defined area by the Control Marshalls). Here the TC official will record the time of arrival of the participating teams in their respective time card as well on the official’s time card. Both these cards should be counter signed by the TC official and the team leader. This procedure should be followed at every TC. Any deviation or any behavior contrary to the above mentioned procedure would lead to instant disqualification of the participant's team.
3.6) Every team will have to pass through all the TCs and PCs in the prescribed sequence only. Failing to do so will lead to disqualification.
3.7) The time once recorded by the TC official will be final. Any argument with respect to the recorded time will lead to disqualification.
3.8) Tampering with the Time Card, Loss or Physical damage or irresponsible / miss-handling such as tearing in part or totally of the time card will lead to instant disqualification.
3.9) Any action that degrades deteriorates or damages the environment through which the race will run, will lead to disqualification. If participant is spotted littering or throwing garbage along the way of the race, altering or tampering with any of the natural surroundings for any reason whatsoever will lead to disqualification.

4.1) No outside (i.e. non-team) support is allowed between the start and finish lines of the Race. Participants must be self-contained except for the official support provided at official aid stations at transition areas. Vehicles even remotely associated with the participants of any category (company / government / defense organizations or private vehicles) if seen by the Marshals / Race Officials along the race route, will lead to immediate disqualification
4.2) All members of a team should be within visual range of each other till the completion of the race. If not found so the race officials have the right to disqualify the team.
4.3) The Race Director has the right to disqualify on grounds of indiscipline or indecent behavior or any such action that is detrimental to the conduct of the race.
4.4) If any information provided by the participating team is found to be false or incorrect, the team will be disqualified.
4.5) Consumption or possession of alcohol, tobacco, cigarettes or any banned substances will lead to instant disqualification .
4.6) The time once recorded by the TC official will be final. Any argument with respect to the recorded time will lead to disqualification.
4.7) Argument with race officials, race marshals, and other team members will lead to disqualification.
4.8) Teams must make reasonable assumptions and decisions with regards to the direction of the course.
4.9) Race officials reserve the right to prohibit a competitor from starting or finishing any segment of the Race on medical grounds. Any such decision of the Race Officials or the Race Committee is final.
4.10) Helmet is compulsory .Failure to wear properly buckled helmet or properly secured buoyancy aids at all times during the relevant segments will result in the disqualification .
4.11) All decisions given by the race officials will be final and binding on all the participants. No arguments whatsoever will be entertained and will lead to disqualification of the team even if the race is over and the results are yet to be declared.
5.1) Provisional results will be declared at the Ruggedian office premises on next day after race at 2 PM to 4 PM. Any team, who wishes to protest, will have to submit the protest in writing to the Race Director with Rs. 5000/- cash. Race director will then look into the matter and give the decision.
5.2) If the decision is not in favor of the protesting team then the protest fee will be forfeited. Only if the decision is in favor of the protesting team then the protest fee will be refunded to the protesting team.
5.3) No protest will be entertained after the expiry of the protest time. In case there are no protests in the ‘protest time’, the provisional results would be treated as the final results.
5.4) Once the final results are declared no protests, arguments or any such action will be entertained. Any misbehavior in the protest will lead to instant disqualification.
5.5) The Race Director can alter, amend or change the course of the race as well as the rules and regulations without any prior notice. Such changes would be conveyed either by Additional supplementary Rule posted at TCs/PCs or orally by the race Marshals at the TCs/PCs and would be binding with immediate effect.
5.6) All decisions by the Race Director regarding the results and the prizes will be final and binding on all the race participants.
5.7) Any Disputes regarding the race and/or prizes would be subject to Kolhapur Jurisdiction only.
5.8) REGISTERATION FEE INCLUDES : TSHIRT , FINISHER MEDAL, MAP & RACE STATIONERY, GOODIE BAG, POST EVENT REFRESHMENT AND RACE ENTRY.
5.9) PROOF OF AGE / RATION CARD / SCHOOL CERTIFICATE/ PROOF OF EMPLOYMENT NEED TO BE PRESENTED IF DEMANDED BY ORGANIZING COMMITTEE.
5.10) Prizes will depend upon the number of teams registered in that category.*
• To form a category a minimum number of 7 teams are essential for each category or the category will be merged with another category. Decision is to be taken by Race director without any prior intimation to participants.
• For all the 3 prizes to be available for claim, the minimum number of registered teams in that category should be 12.
• If the number of entries in a category is between 10 and 12, only the first and second prize will be awarded. and the prize amount of second and third place will be replaced.
• If the number of entries in any category is between 7 and 9, only the first prize will be awarded. Amount of third place will be given
6.1) All right, title and interest, including but not limited to the Intellectual Property Rights, in the promotional material(s) / the race and in any and all entries received shall vest solely and exclusively with RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS at all times. RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS or any person or entity permitted by RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS in this regard shall be entitled to use the entries received or any information in connection with the entry in any media for future promotional, marketing, publicity and any other purpose, without any permission and/or payment to the Participant.
6.2) It is mandatory for all participants to attend the prize distribution ceremony .Nonattendance will be fined with Rs 500 fine and Rs 1000 fine for open team category. Certificates will be given to all participants on same day.
6.3) Under no circumstance, shall RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS and/or their directors, employees, officers, affiliates or subsidiaries, be liable to the Participant and/or any third party for any lost profits or lost opportunity, indirect, special, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages whatsoever, even if RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS has been advised of the possibility of such damages. The Participant specifically agrees not to file in person/through any family member and/or any third party any applications, criminal and/or civil proceedings in any courts or forum in India against RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS and/or their directors, employees, officers, affiliates or subsidiaries to claim any damages or relief in connection with the Race and shall hold harmless RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS , its affiliates, its group companies, their employees, officers, directors or any other person and/or sponsors from any claim/liability/losses (including legal fees) arising out of and in relation to any injury/damage/harm/loss/ death/ mental or emotional trauma suffered by the participant(s) in any manner whatsoever in connection with the Race.
6.4) RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS shall not be liable to perform any of its obligations under the Race where it is unable to do so as a result of unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond its reasonable control. RACE COMMITTEE / ORGANISERS excludes all liability whatever for any costs, expenses, damages, liability, injury or disappointment suffered by you arising out of or in any way connected with the Race.
